On 06/01/1999 a Major Fire Disaster occurred in Vasco Port Town wherein 3 pipelines near the Mormugao Port Trust containing petroleum products caught fire near the main gate of Indian Oil Corporation. The 3 pipelines were containing Petrol, Diesel and Sulphuric Acid. However no fatalities were reported. The said incident was attended by Goa state Fire and Emergency Services.
