On 12/07/2002 a pipe line used to discharge petroleum products (KSD Motor Spirit) from Ship to IOC tanks burst at IOC Terminal Vasco. The incident occurred while Indian Oil Tanker was uploading petrol to the IOC tank. When a major leakage was detected from one of the main pumping pipe lines of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) near berth number 11 of Mormugao Port Trust. The reason for the massive fire was due to leakage of petrol at the electrical points causing ignition which set the line on fire. However no injury was reported.
