On 01/10/2002 a tragic Mid Air Collision between Two Ilyushin-38 Naval Aircrafts in Vasco injuring over 16 persons and killing 15 people which includes 12 Naval Personnel who were piloting the Planes and three workers who were working in a Residential Bungalow, further another 3 people were reported missing. Both Aircrafts were flying in a close formation as a part of celebration to mark the 25th Anniversary of Squadron, when their wings struck resulting in tragic crashes. The incident occurred in close vicinity of Airport Plaza and MES College Vasco. The incident was attended by Goa State Fire & Emergency Services.
