On 22/06/2007 Cyclonic winds accompanied by heavy rains in South Goa destroyed around 38 houses and damaged overhead power lines across South Goa District. Over 156 people were evacuated from low lying areas at Khareband, Margao and Nehru Stadium, Fatorda since water was entering in their houses. The damaged houses were located at Betalbhatim, Seraulim, Margao, Girdolim, Navelim and also some parts of Panjim were affected by flooding.
