On 18/05/2017 a Major Incident occurred wherein a person had jumped from the bridge into the river at Savordem Sanguem-Goa. The Search and Rescue Operation attracted the onlookers, resulting crowd of 50 people on the corroded side walk of the bridge. The old foothpath could not withstand the weight of the onlookers and consequently collapsed taking down with it approx 50 people into the river, wherein 3 dead bodies were traced by the Goa State Fire & Emergency Services and overall 25 persons were rescued.
